We at SJGF are so so excited to be partnering with Rachel Gray, founder of Joy To The Kids, Inc.! We had learned about Rachel through Avery’s mom, Dana, so it was only fitting to come together and celebrate Avery together. Rachel dresses as different characters and goes to the hospital to sing and shower JOY and LOVE onto children while they are in the hospital at INOVA. Oh how I would have LOVED to have her come thru and love on my girl in one of her many lengthy stays. Rachel’s foundation is new too, just a few months younger than SJGF, so its only fitting that God would cause our paths to cross so that we can team up to impact even more of these amazing children’s lives, as a team. Avery LOVES when Rachel comes to see her in the hospital, and especially loves when she has Ariel’s beautiful red hair on. The rest of the day, I will let Avery’s mom, Dana tell about in her own words, sometimes the momma can capture the day the best.

“Yesterday was one of the most amazing and blessed days our families have ever had! Sara Knight and The Sweet Julia Grace Foundation & Rachel Gray and Joy To The Kids, Inc. gave our Avery girl an UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING Princess Ariel themed half birthday party!!! Avery missed her 2nd birthday party because she was too sick to stay awake and had a 16.5 hr brain surgery on her actual 2nd birthday. So to make up for that – these wonderful ladies, their wonderful teams and our friends and family all gathered together to surprise us with a day to celebrate Avery and our family.

The Sweet Julia Grace Foundation was kind enough to gift Mike and I with a generator that will help keep our electricity on should the power ever go out and ensure that all of Avery’s machines she needs keep working! We are so incredibly humbled and taken aback by their EXTREME generosity. They also completely showered both girls with so many toys and gifts…and few special things for Momma and Daddy. It was really a day beyond words. I could never imagine something so completely incredible happening to our family.

I am continually overwhelmed and humbled by the kindness, generosity, goodness, and love other people show us all the time. It blows me away. Between our Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser in September and then yesterday, I’m just so overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support our family has been given during this very difficult time. When Avery was first diagnosed with cancer in June, it literally never crossed my mind that people who do these kinds of things for us. I mean, why would they? I will spend the rest of my life thanking everyone and showing our gratitude for what you’ve given us. You will never know how your love, prayers, generosity and support is what continues to give us strength to keep going and fighting this battle for our baby girl. Thank you so much.

And to Sara, Rachel and everyone else that helped yesterday – THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. It was more than we could have ever dreamed of. I’m glad God blessed us with you all in our lives. What you do for families is so incredible. Thank you thank you thank you. We love you!!!! xoxoxoox”

On behalf of SJGF and Joy to the Kids, you are welcome, and we LOVE YOU TOO. ♥
