We had the honor of throwing Kaleb one awesome 11th SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY!! When we met Kaleb, we were astounded at how mature he was, and how passionate he was about cooking and watching the Food Network. His favorite chef is Bobby Flay. We set out to reach for the stars for Kaleb and we were ACTUALLY able to get in Bobby Flay’s ear to tell Bobby about this brave, amazing, young man who lives in Virginia that he just HAD to meet! And…Well, he agreed!!!!

The pure joy at his CELEBRATION was tangible AND contagious as he opened his gifts and giggled his gracious little giggle. Kaleb is one of the most impressive and inspirational young men. He is fighting relapsed leukemia. Despite being initially diagnosed in 2011 and relapsing in 2014, Kaleb continues to live each moment to the fullest and has so many incredible dreams for the future, one of which is to be a chef! So here’s to dreams, and HOPE and a future that is blessed with both Mr. Kaleb!
You have officially been SHOWERED WITH LOVE.
Kaleb and his family experienced an all-expense paid visit to NYC in April 2016, met Bobby, attended a taping of his show “Beat Bobby Flay”, and enjoyed dinner ‘on Bobby’ at one of his restaurants. The taping from the show will be aired in a few months, so until then we can’t share any of the very special pictures that were taken on set. To hold you over, I wanted to share what his mom posted and the pics she shared.
“We could never thank the Sweet Julia Grace foundation and all of the incredible people who worked so hard to gift us this amazing trip to New York enough! I loved Bobby Flay before but I love him even more now! He and all of his staff were beyond nice and gracious to us. They made us feel so comfortable from the very beginning. We toured the set, hung out in the control room (where all the magic happens), they let us be in the audience and watch Bobby cook! Then we ate at his restaurant on Bobby!! And oh my goodness, it did not disappoint!! Kaleb ate his rabbit, octopus, scallops, shrimp, mussels, scrabbled eggs (yes, scrambled eggs), biscotti, cheese cake, and I know I’m forgetting something. Kaleb, along with the rest of us, minds were blown by the entire experience from beginning to end. Everything went so smooth. This has been such a special experience we will cherish forever. Julia Grace and Jonah’s love was felt in each and every moment.” ~Kaleb’s momma
